Nanyang Style, Mee Rebus
I recently visited Hock Kee Kopitiam Sunway Square, the 16th outlet for this brand which originated in Johor Bahru. This modern kopitiam is known for its “muhibbah” philosophy, offering a diverse range of freshly prepared Malaysian favourites and Johor specialities in an comfortable environment.

The Mee Rebus was fantastic, featuring a thick and flavourful gravy that lived up to its reputation.

A key highlight was the fried chicken; I highly recommend dropping the lime onto it, as the acidity adds a fantastic zing that beautifully elevates the flavour profile of the
chicken.

I was resisting to finish off the gravy.

To accompany the meal, I had a Regular Hot Cham while Jen had a Jasmine Green Tea.

Hock Kee Mee Rebus – RM16.90++
Cham (Hot, Regular) – RM5.20++
Jasmine Green Tea – RM5.90++
8% Discount for Maybank Cards – RM2.24
Score: 7.7/10
M – Meal Value
The pricing is competitive for a modern mall-based kopitiam. At approximately RM24.00 for a hearty main and two drinks (after discount), it offers solid value for the quality and freshness of the made-to-order dishes.
Score: 7.5/10
V – Venue & Vibes
Located on Level 1 of the Sunway Square lifestyle hub, the restaurant provides a clean and familiar setting that successfully rekindles traditional coffee-shop culture. It is a comfortable spot for casual gatherings or a quick, quality lunch.
Score: 7.8/10
X – X-Factor
The true X-factor is the technical execution of the Mee Rebus gravy. Achieving that level of thick, savory depth while maintaining the freshness of the ingredients sets this outlet apart in the Subang dining scene.
Score: 7.8/10
