Pork Noodles, Non-Halal
Lunch at The Hog Kitchen SS2 turned out to be a rather pleasant affair. I opted for the Konlou Mixian Pork Noodles, and the moment the bowl hit the table, the rich aroma of the pork broth greeted me. It had a savoury depth that was undeniably delicious and if I had not controlled myself, I would have drank every last drop of it.
However, I quickly realised that ordering mixian was a mistake on my part. The noodle was too soft for my liking, lacking that slight bite I usually prefer. In hindsight, I should have gone with loh shi fun instead, which might have held up better.
What really stood out were the pork slices, pork belly slices and minced pork. They were tender, well-seasoned, and added a hearty richness to the dish. The sambal was also a great accompaniment, providing just the right amount of spice to lift the flavours of the noodles and pork.
At RM17.00 for the dry noodles and an additional RM1.50 for an egg, it was not a cheap lunch option in this part of SS2. But it was certainly a good one. The Hog Kitchen SS2 gets the pork right, though next time, I’ll definitely choose a sturdier noodle.
