Tang Jai Yoo Restaurant Teochew Dinner

Pork Ribs
Dinner at Howdy Grillhouse was one of those unexpectedly satisfying meals. I had the Taliwang Racks Pork Ribs (RM42.80), a side of potato salad (RM18.80), and paired it with a 1602 Pale Ale (RM15).

The potato salad — simple as it looked — was exceptional. Creamy, well-seasoned, and smooth, without that slight sharpness you often get from potatoes. It had a mellow richness that complemented the smoky mains beautifully.

Then came the pork ribs, coated with a Lombok-inspired spice rub. The meat pulled cleanly off the bone, tender and smoky with just enough spice to keep things interesting. Each bite was well-balanced. I could taste the grill’s char, the dry rub’s warmth, and the savoury spicy goodness from the glaze.

Fall off the bone

To round it off, the 1602 Pale Ale paired perfectly — crisp, malty, and far more flavourful than their lager. Even Jen liked it.

Score: 9.0/10
