Chicken Chop, Pork-Free
Our visit to JDV Cafe in USJ was an interesting culinary experience, as Jen and I both opted for the Pan Seared Chicken Chop (RM26.90), albeit with different sauces to sample.
Jen decided on the Honey Mustard sauce, which turned out to be decent, offering a pleasant tangy kick that complemented the chicken well. In contrast, my choice of the Black Pepper sauce left me wishing that it could have been bolder. However this being a French inspired dish, it was perhaps in keeping with the cuisine there.
The chicken is pan seared, so it is not local chicken chop that you should be expecting here. Nevertheless, the meat underneath was tender, although it could have used a bit more seasoning.
Moving on to the sides, the mashed potatoes were a definite win. They had a good mouthfeel, creamy texture, and were nicely seasoned, providing a comforting contrast to the chicken.
The Gac Fruit milk drink (RM13) was an intriguing addition to our meal. Gac fruit, known for its vibrant red color, is packed with health benefits. It's rich in antioxidants, particularly carotenoids like lycopene and beta-carotene, which are known to support eye health and boost the immune system. The addition of Gac fruit to our meal not only offered a unique flavour but also provided a nutritious twist.
And I did like this touch. The faux window that looked out to the Eiffel Tower.
