Since I struck food gold with the fishball noodles in Cheras, I decided to see if I could replicate that success in Kota Kinabalu, especially given the city’s reputation for fresh daily catches. I headed to Kah Hiong Fish Noodles for breakfast, eager to sample their offerings.

I opted for the Kon Lau Mee, accompanied by a mixture of items. My selection included 2 pieces of fish paste, 2 fish balls, 2 tau pok balls, and 2 small pieces of fish, all for RM22, with a cup of coffee. The price seemed high given the serving size much to be desired.

The noodles themselves were satisfactory, though they had a slight sweetish taste, which could be quite common in this region. The fish paste was alright. The fish balls and tau pok balls, however, were just average. It didn’t have the springiness I would expect of a good fish ball. The small pieces of fish were over-cooked and didn’t stand out.
