Tuaran Mee
We stopped by Kee Hiong Bak Kut Teh on Jalan Gaya for our second meal of the night, and I’m glad we did. Ordered the Dry BKT Tuaran Noodle (RM13), accompanied by Tau Kee Soup (RM6) and Stir-fried Lettuce (RM10).
This was the standout dish of the night. Served in a sizzling hot claypot, the noodles were firm — very al dente — and richly coated in a savoury, slightly spicy, caramelised dark sauce. If you like your noodles soft, this won’t be your cup of tea, but for those who appreciate bite and texture, it’s spot-on. The aroma of dried chillies and dark soy hits immediately, and the residual heat keeps the flavours deepening with every mouthful.

The Tau Kee Soup and Lettuce with Oyster Sauce were good supporting acts but clearly outshone by the star — that claypot noodle. A small note: resist the temptation to touch the pot when it arrives; it’s properly hot.

Dry BKT Tuaran Noodle – RM13
Tau Kee Soup – RM6
Lettuce – RM10
Score: 8.5/10
M – Meal Value (8.5): Superb texture and depth of flavour for RM13; great value for the quality.
V – Vibe & Venue (8.0): Clean, bustling local eatery, ideal for supper.
X – X-Factor (9.0): The claypot Dry BKT Tuaran Noodle — unique, aromatic, and satisfying.
