Yes, this place is called Kenny Hills Coffee OUG. I did not get it wrong, it is not called Kenny Hills Bakers. It is owned by them but the reason why this place is named differently is because they don’t have a full kitchen here. The focus is on coffee, pastries, cakes, sandwiches and some pasta. In fact, they have several Kenny Hills Coffee outlets throughout the Klang Valley.
Kenny Hills Bakers took the slow brew route, slowly growing their fan base from the single shop outlet at Kenny Hills. Over the years, as their popularity grew, they slowly expanded the shop lot and then went into overdrive as the lockdown ended in 2022. Since then they have opened multiple outlets and everyone of them gets filled up with patrons. It’s a testament to their resilience and their brand equity.
We had the sandwiches. I had a beef sandwich and Jen had a tuna sandwich. The sandwiches are made with sourdough bread which they bake. While I did enjoy the beef filling in my sandwich, I felt the sandwich was over toasted making the bread a bit too hard for my liking. Maintaining the perfect temperature to toast sourdough is particularly tricky because of it’s denser and chewier texture. It could also be a matter of preference. We all have different level of hardness to the toast that we prefer. My guess is if you are younger, you might like the extra resistance.
The coffee at Kenny Hills Coffee OUG was enjoyable and made up for the sandwich. I liked the nutty flavour of it.
