Chiefeater Hedges Liang had minced pork koay teow th’ng at Hock Poh Lye Cafe and still finds that instant-cooked version the best

Prawn Mee, Street Food
Swee Kong Coffee Shop, a popular kopitiam for breakfast in Pulau Tikus. Lean Hock Hokkien Mee (operating within the coffee shop) is an unassuming stall, but its Hokkien mee speaks for itself.

Many people say this humble stall, tucked inside a bustling kopitiam, serves some of the best Hokkien mee in Penang.

The broth has a nice prawn-pork bone flavour which is rich yet not too sweetish. Each bowl is topped with prawns, thin slices of pork, hardboiled egg, strips of kangkong and crispy fried shallots. A standard serving of Lean Hock Hokkien mee and the chilli paste is really fiery.

Price list: Small @ RM7.00 and Big @ RM8.00. Additional charges for add-ons.

Sitting in this old-fashioned kopitiam can be cramped and uncomfortable but it has not stop the crowd from coming. You may even have to share your table with others. Do come early as this Hokkien mee is usually sold out by mid-morning.
Limited seats in the kopitiam and be prepared to share your table with other diners.
