Nyonya, Pork-Free
Limapulo Sunway Pyramid occupies a place previously occupied by another eatery. While this outpost delivers on generous portions and bold plating, but the flavours this round were a mixed bag.
The Nyonya Mee Goreng, served in a vibrant ceramic dish, arrived generously portioned and packed with prawns, tomato slices, spring onions, and a sambal on the side. On first taste, it leaned slightly flat but with a squeeze of lime (Jen asked them for it), the dish opened up considerably. That added acidity made a noticeable difference, lifting the savoury profile and letting the noodles sing. I did like how the noodles did not have an alkaline taste and had a firm texture.
The Cendol was unapologetically large, a towering bowl of shaved ice topped with green pandan noodles and red beans. Certainly enough for Jen and I. Refreshingly cold with the expected gula melaka richness without being overly sweet.
The letdown was the Pie Tee, which looked the part but lacked the crispness and balance that makes this Peranakan favourite pop. The use of a sweet chili sauce didn't do it any favors for me. I replaced the provided chili sauce with the savoury one that came with the Mee Goreng.
I had a white coffee which was quite decent.
