Fishballs
Hidden in a department store basement food court – get the signature fishball noodles with extra pork lard and chili. Perfect quick lunch spot when shopping in the area.

LiXin is a Michelin Bib Gourmand fishball noodle spot tucked into Takashimaya’s basement food court. Counter service with quick turnover despite the steady queues. Founder Lim Lee Seng started selling fishball noodles from a pushcart.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality – this is a 7/10 within a hawker centre and one in a department store at that. This and the hotpot chicken soup (coincidentally just next door) are easily the #1 and #2 spots in Taka’s vast and cavernous hawker centre at level B2.
The crunch from the fried wontons is also quite unique. I asked for extra lard toppings and a sprinkle of lard oil on my fishball soup base as well. Definitely worth a try if you’re in Taka hankering for bak chor mee. There’s the Kim Keat, Hill Street and other OG bak chor mee legends in Sg – but LiXin’s fishballs are a standout.
