Mexican, Pork-Free
Mamasita Mexican Restaurant & Tapas Bar is one of those places that immediately catches the eye. It’s vibrant, lively, and full of colour. Having noticed it on a previous visit to Kota Kinabalu, I decided to drop by for a drink and a bite, curious to see if the food matched the bold aesthetic.

We opted for tacos, which were priced at RM30 for two. Between us, we had a Soft Shell Grilled Chicken Taco and a Hard Shell Chili Con Carne Taco
Soft Shell Taco

Portion-wise, the tacos were decently sized for the price, offering a reasonable amount of filling without feeling skimpy. However, while they were enjoyable, the flavours didn’t particularly stand out. The chicken taco was tender but lacked a memorable punch, while the chili con carne taco had a good crunch from the shell but could have used a bit more depth in seasoning.

Where Mamasita Mexican Restaurant truly shines is in its ambience. The décor is a fiesta of colours, exuding a fun and inviting energy. Whether you’re in for a casual meal or just drinks, it’s a great place to soak in the lively surroundings.
And they serve Guinness. Oh they also seats where there are charge points. So it’s a good place to recharge yourself and your phone.
