Wine, Non-Halal
After dinner at Page II, we wandered over to Mesa Tapas — almost exactly two years to the day since we first stepped into the space. The bar looked much the same. Soft lighting, quiet chatter, and an easy lounge atmosphere that still felt removed from the busier parts of George Town. It was a familiar sort of comfort, the kind that wraps around you gently rather than demanding attention.
We kept it simple this time. A plate of stir fried button mushrooms (RM38), sautéed in olive oil and garlic, and a glass of white wine (RM28) to wind down the evening. The food and drink were decent — nothing remarkable, but pleasant enough. The mushrooms had a nice earthiness. The wine was clean and crisp, served properly chilled.

It wasn’t a meal to linger on in memory, but it didn’t need to be. Sometimes it’s just about being somewhere that brings a touch of the familiar. However, the familiarity I felt with this place when Eric (who I was recently told had passed away) who used to warmly greet patrons was missing. He provided a vital human connection that was sadly absent this visit.
