Pan Mee, Pork-Free
I was introduced to Mr Pan Mee Setia Walk by a friend, and I had no idea that this brand already boasts over 20 outlets across Malaysia. Kudos to them for their growth and success! The first thing I noticed was their pan mee, which is made at their own factory. The noodles had a firm, chewy texture that immediately won me over—just the right balance of bite and softness. I had an original flavour which allowed me to savour the seasoning and the ingredients. The ikan bills was savoury and crispy.
What really stood out, though, was the sambal belacan. It packed a serious punch, the kind of fiery kick that lingered, in the best way possible. It reminded me of how my mother used to make hers, which added a nostalgic touch to the whole experience. A good sambal can elevate any dish, and here, it was definitely the star.
At RM10.90 for a bowl, Mr Pan Mee Setia Walk offers good value. The environment was comfortable, operating out of the LJJ Herbal mini market in Setia Walk. It’s a casual, unpretentious spot, perfect for a quick meal that satisfies both your taste buds and your budget.
I’d also suggest pairing the pan mee with a cup of their cold ginseng herbal tea. It’s a refreshing drink that helps douse the fire from the sambal, offering a cooling contrast to the heat.
