Chinese New Year, Pork-Free
after having try the 3 course lunch at hotel marriott for christmas time, i was surprise that for the chinese new year lunch, our company also choose hotel marriott. i'm sharing here the 3 course i took (appetiser, main, dessert) and also some other food that my colleagues took. scroll through for the review/captions, ya. i'm putting up my order first. note not all the shots were taken by me.
starter
golden fish maw soup
my order
rich fish soup, scallop, premium fish maw, wolfberries
this is what i had. it was quite nice. the fish has bones in it. the soup was tasty (and like ‘powdery like’)

main
‘dong guai’ prawns
dong guai herb steamed tiger prawns, wolfberries, coriander, spring onion, served with fragran white rice
my order
very good. can taste the ‘dong quai’ taste a lot on the prawns and some on the rice. there were 5 big prawns, all sliced into half…. yet i used my fingers to peel (only 2 fingers lah). glad that i order this. the only thing is that apart from these 5 prawns, there were nothing else…. that’s why need to peel them first to eat with the rice

dessert
gui hu gao ‘yuan bao’
osmanthus jelly with golden chrysantheneum and goji berry
my order
i like osmanthus jelly so decided to order this. came with ice cream too (but the menu no mention it). the jelly were delicious. bottom one looks pretty yes as from a firend with a good phone and i think edited too. mine is a cheapo phone, so not edited... and yes the jelly does look that colour (top)

starter
prosperity rice paper roll
rice paper wrap with shrimp, cilantro, mint, sweet basil, holy basil, lettuce, cabbage, bean sprout, ccumber, avocado, thai sweet sauce

main
lobster ‘hor fun’
charred grill green lobster, wok fried flat noodles with organic greens in rich egg gravy
to show you both sides. top pic is from my phone camera while bottom pic is from my colleague’s phone camera. although her picture looks better, so nice but then not so original i think... because the lobster does not look that bright colour!

main
tiger grouper
steamed tiger grouper fillet, hokkaido scallop, crispy ginger sauce, house made soy sauce, sauteed glass noodles.
i notice that the tang hoon noodles seemed to be a lot. the fish were in small pcs (fillet type) and not too many

main
ginger flower chicken rendang
braised boneless chicken, ginger flower, green curry, fragrant pearl rice, pickled salad and fish crackers

dessert
chocolate mandarin cake
chocolate financier, mandarin creameux, chocoloate chiboust, dark glaze, salted chocolate soil, mandarin sorbet

dessert
kamquat and coconut
vanilla chiboust, kamquat compote, coconut mousse, crumble, candied kamquat, vanilla chantilly, vanilla ice cream
