Teochew
Dinner at turned out to be a very enjoyable Teochew meal.

We kept things simple with two dishes: stir-fried seasonal vegetables and their braised mixed platter.

The vegetables arrived first and immediately got my attention. There was a lovely wok hei running through them. This was just so enjoyable to eat.

Then came the braised platter.

The dark braising liquid had plenty of depth, and there was a mixture of tofu, egg and various braised meats and offal.
But for me, the intestines stole the show.

They had absorbed plenty of flavour from the braising liquid while still retaining enough texture to make them interesting to chew.
The rest of the platter was good too, but whenever my chopsticks went back into the bowl, it was the intestines I was looking for.
A cold Bia Saigon Special alongside all that rich braised flavour didn’t hurt either.
Bia Saigon Special – VND45,000
Stir-Fried Seasonal Greens – VND150,000
Braised Mixed Flavours – VND200,000
Subtotal – VND395,000
VAT – VND32,500
Total: VND427,500
Average per pax: VND213,750
MVX Score: 8.2/10
M – Meal Value
VND213,750 per person for dinner was reasonable considering the portions and quality. The vegetables were very well executed while the braised platter gave us plenty to work through between two people.
Score: 8.0/10
V – Venue
The restaurant has a comfortable, straightforward Chinese dining-room setting. It is more about eating well than creating a particularly elaborate atmosphere.
Score: 7.5/10
X – X-Factor
The braised intestines were the standout for me, but the wok hei on something as simple as a plate of vegetables showed that the kitchen was paying attention to technique.
Score: 9.0/10
