Lunch at Bistro Léa Sri Hartamas had hits and misses, but the fluffy Pancakes à la Banane were the dish that had all of us talking

Coffee
A Big Breakfast lives or dies by its individual components. You can put plenty on the plate, but when one of the main items isn’t up to scratch, you notice it. The Full House Breakfast at Reborn Coffee TRX certainly looks the part. It’s a generous plate with scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, hash brown, baked beans, mushrooms, tomato, salad and other breakfast staples.

Most of it was decent enough, and I liked the scrambled eggs. The problem for me was the chicken sausage.

It had that very soft, almost homogeneous texture you get from some supermarket sausages. At RM35 for a café Big Breakfast, I would have expected a much better textured chicken sausage with a little more bite and character. It is a relatively small part of the plate, but also one of the things I expect to distinguish a proper café breakfast from something I could easily put together at home.

Thankfully, Reborn Coffee does considerably better with its coffee.
My Flat White was good, and Jen’s Peru Black Cold Brew was enjoyable too. This is, after all, Reborn Coffee, and the coffee side of the experience gives me a much stronger reason to come back.

So while the Big Breakfast didn’t quite hit the mark for me, I’d happily return for the coffee. Fix that sausage and the breakfast would be a much more convincing proposition.

M – Meal Value
RM35 gets you a substantial breakfast plate, but at this price point I expect the ingredients to be a step above what I can easily buy from a supermarket. The chicken sausage pulled the meal down.

The coffee. Both the Flat White and Peru Black Cold Brew were good, and that’s what would bring me back to Reborn.
