Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun, Non-Halal
My food exploration around Serdang Jaya station led me to the unassuming yet charming Restoran Ngee Hup on the main road of Kampung Baru Seri Kembangan. Among the diverse stalls they had there, the Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun caught my interest since I have not had a good one for ages.
Let's delve into what sets Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun apart first. Unlike its traditional counterpart, Hong Kong-style Chee Cheong Fun features rice noodle rolls that are extraordinarily thin and delicately folded, creating a unique and delightful texture. This style emphasizes the importance of precision in the preparation, resulting in a more nuanced eating experience.
The standout quality of the dish at Restoran Ngee Hup was its thinness, achieving a delicate balance that allowed for easy folding without compromising on flavour. The seasoning was excellent, with each bite delivering an exquisite amalgamation of tastes. The chili accompaniment also delivered a spicy kick to the dish. While I would prefer it to be of a drier variety, it nevertheless met my taste preference.
Priced at a modest RM8, the portion size was not only generous but also adorned with plump, succulent shrimps, making it an absolute steal.
Restoran Ngee Hup is located just a short walk from Gate B of the Serdang Jaya MRT station. This area definitely warrants more trips in the future.
