Chicken Chop, Coffee, Pork-Free
Sin Kok Thye Kopitiam (also known as New Cathay) is one of the OG hainanese kopitiam that is still operating after decades in business. Operating on Jalan Kem, Port Klang right below an overhead bridge, this place has to be visited to be appreciated. The outlet reeks of old world nostalgia the moment you step into it. They are famous for their old style Hainanese chicken chop (RM13) which is served with a ketchup based gravy.

How old school is it? Have a look at the picture, it comes with the bone of the thigh still in it. At RM13, it may not cost much but it is also not much in terms of portion. The sides were potato wedges, a slice of tomato and peas. The chicken chop is well seasoned but I did find the meat tough, almost like it had been overcooked. The fish chop (RM15) looks more of the same but was a slightly bigger portion.

What I enjoyed was the butter coffee (RM5). A huge dollop of butter added to a cup of coffee with appropriate amount of spillage staining the side of the cup. The OG bulletproof coffee made by a master kopi barista.
