Lunch at San Ren Xing
Chinese
Chiefeater Luke Soon had a pleasant dining experience at San Ren Xing which gave him the vibes of an old haunt

Western, Non-Halal
The Singapore Cricket Club is a members only club and the food generally is of high quality. The Padang restaurant upstairs is formal where as the oval restaurant on the lower floor is more casual.

We had a formal lunch for 4 at the Padang restaurant and chose their fixed menu. The service standards are great along with the view of the Padang (open field) and ensure the focus is on the lunch and business conversation. You’re instantly transported into colonial grandeur; and you’ll find yourself expecting good Western(Hainanese?) food.
Wait, aren’t the Hainanese the selected chefs of the Brits back then? This would be akin to KLites stepping into RSC or Carcosa; the Padang restaurant is available for private bookings on weekday evenings, Saturdays, and Sunday evenings.
Their set lunch is priced at SGD42.
