Mornings in East Malaysia always come earlier than those in the Peninsula. At 6 o'clock in the morning, the sun was already high in the sky, and the soft sunlight filtered in through the hotel curtains, accompanied by the sound of birdsong, kicking off the day. After washing, I was hungry. We chose Success Delicatessen Shop, a time-honored snack shop that has been passed down for two generations across from the hotel.
When you walk into the store, a strong sense of human touch hits your face. The mother was in charge of collecting money at the small table, while the son stood in front of the stove and skillfully stirred the soup in the pot. The most famous thing about this shop is their homemade whole egg noodles, which are also rich in ingredients: famous fish noodles, delicious seafood, beef noodles, delicious braised beef brisket and tendon, and rich curry laksa. It’s simply a choice. difficulty.
I ordered a bowl of seafood curry laksa (RM17), and the fresh aroma hit my nostrils the moment it was served. The bowl is filled with large pieces of grouper fillets, each bite is tender and sweet, and paired with springy prawns and handmade fish paste, the rich taste makes people unable to stop eating. However, the soup of the curry laksa is a little inferior, the spices overwhelm the spiciness, and it lacks some "heat", but overall it is still a bowl of seafood noodles full of sincerity.
How can you have breakfast without having Sabah’s unique coffee? A cup of fragrant local coffee with a hint of burnt aroma, paired with ancient-style whole egg noodles, instantly satisfies the stomach and heart.
This breakfast is not only a treat for the taste buds, but also a taste of life. Every morning in East Malaysia, there is a small shop like this silently guarding the warmth and heritage of home.
