Char Kuey Teow, Street Food, Non-Halal
Success Kopitiam Setia Alam has long been a favorite spot for locals. Although I’m originally from Subang, I’ve gradually fallen in love with the atmosphere. Today, I happened to have a meeting nearby, so I popped in early for breakfast. I’d been dreaming about their Klang-style char kuey teow last night, and I couldn’t resist ordering a plate.

The char kuey teow (RM9 a plate) here is slightly moist, embodying the traditional flavors of Klang residents. The savory aroma of fresh siham and small shrimp blends beautifully with the addition of a sunny-side-up egg. With a gentle poke, the yolk flows gently into the kuey teow, blending with the “wok hei”, instantly elevating the flavors. This flavor is the result of the persistence of the owner, who has been at the restaurant for over a decade, using traditional techniques to preserve this traditional flavor.

Of course, a cup of rich, fragrant Kao Kou (black coffee) is essential. Its rich aroma, slightly bitter but not astringent, remains consistently high every time I visit. The combination of char kuey teow and Kao Kou is a simple yet satisfying breakfast combination that will always be savored.
