Taquería Franco unfolds as a haven for taco enthusiasts, offering a diverse range of flavourful creations that elevate the humble taco to something more elegant. Taquería Franco may have a small space but they nevertheless their outlet possesses a vibrant and welcoming ambiance, embodying the essence of a true taco bar.
During our visit, we indulged in a trio of tacos and a quesadilla, each promising a distinctive journey into the world of taste.
Raclette & Bacon Quesadilla | PHP 400
raclette / tyrolean bacon / potatoes / pickled vegetables / tomato jam
While I enjoyed the flavours of the cheese and the texture of the quesadilla, I felt that the bacon bits could have been chunkier.
Prawns | PHP 550
sautéed prawns / rouille / avocado mousse / FRANCO pepper sauce / cabbage / chili-lime vinaigrette / buckwheat tortilla
The prawns taco offered a delightful blend of freshness and zest. The succulent prawns, while fresh and somehow did not have enough taste presence to make itself felt on the taco shell.
Roast Chicken | PHP 400
roast chicken / roasted tomato salsa / arugula / beef jus / shoestring potatoes / buckwheat tortilla
The roast chicken taco should be classic choice that should not disappoint. However while the chicken meat was tender, it again lacked seasoning to announce itself on the warm tortilla.
French Horn Mushrooms | 450
sautéed mushrooms / roasted tomato salsa / cilantro and parsley pistou / arugula / frisée / parsley / buckwheat tortilla
Thankfully the French Horn Mushroom Taco saved the meal. It stole the spotlight with its bold and robust flavours. The earthy richness of the mushrooms, complemented by thoughtfully chosen seasonings, made it a standout even among its meat brethren.
Gin & Jus | 350
gin / olive oil / yuzu / green grape verjus
While we were waiting for our Grab, we grabbed the Gin & Jus cocktail which had such interesting ingredients. I think my palate wasn't refined enough to appreciate the full complexity of this drink which my friend stated in no uncertain terms.
