Two Tigers Kopitiam joins the list of modern kopitiam opening in Puchong. Incidentally, at the time of writing this in December 2022 they have 4 outlets already. 3 in the Klang Valley and one in Ipoh. Their choice of colours and typeface would suggest that they are trying to mimic Oriental Kopi and ride on that success. For the initial weeks after it’s opening, that seemed to work as it drew in the crowds to Two Tigers Kopitiam. In time, that hype has abated so it was time for me to visit.

We gave their local breakfast a whirl and here’s what we found.

They don’t have breakfast sets so you order items individually. So I ordered a set of 2 Half Boiled Kampung Eggs (RM3.90++), a single Kaya Butter Toast (RM4.90++) and a Two Tigers Signature White Coffee (RM4.90++). My wife had a Hainanese Steamed Kaya Bread (RM4.90++) and a Teh O (RM3.90++)

I would give them a plus for bringing the eggs and my toast out one after the other. However, Two Tigers Kopitiam was really stingy with the kaya and butter on my toast and parsimonious with kaya on the steamed bread.

I must however, credit them, with a good cup of coffee. Aromatic and with a nice ratio of coffee to milk giving it a smooth taste that was neither bitter nor overly sweet. But given that the competition they are up against is Oriental which serves a breakfast set of eggs, toast and coffee for only RM8.90++, it’s going to be a tall order for them to dislodge Oriental as the kopitiam kingpin in Puchong.
