Chiefeater VK explored the highly acclaimed Chef Chew Kitchen, finding remarkably good traditional dishes and phenomenal affordability

Desserts, Non-Halal
The bubur cha cha (RM5) from Wang Tong Shui Station is one of those bowls that makes you pause after the first spoonful.

The coconut milk was fragrant and so creamy, the yam soft without being mushy, and the sweet potato cubes had that lovely bite, chewy yet tender. It’s comfort in a bowl, especially when served warm.

Their yam cake was alright, a bit on the denser side but saved by a generous topping of fried shallots and chillies.

The Nyonya kuih (RM4) was better than I expected. I have been too often dissatisfied with many places that sell nyonya Kuih. Wang Tong Shui Station is not one those places. The texture was soft and bouncy, and the flavours leaned more towards the traditional — not overly sweet, just the way they should be.

A good stop for those who enjoy classic local desserts done well.
