XOXO Coffee is the classiest-looking restaurant within Syopz at Taylor’s University. Their ambiance is inviting, with a modern and sleek decor that promises an upscale dining experience. This would be my 3rd visit there.
For my meal, I opted for the chicken katsu curry rice (RM26+). The presentation was appealing, and the dish itself did not disappoint. The chicken was well-seasoned, boasting a crispy exterior while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. The katsu was flavourful, providing a satisfying combination of textures and tastes.


However, my experience was marred by the attitude of one of the staff. While queuing to make an order, I was to looking at the laminated menu on the cashier’s counter. As XOXO requires customers to order at the counter rather than through a QR code, this was a necessary step. While I was still browsing the menu, the cashier abruptly took it from me without asking if I was done.
I asked if it was because the menu was different and if certain items were unavailable. Instead of offering any explanation, the cashier didn’t respond and simply continued with his task waiting for me to order. Upon further inspection of the menu on the counter, it turned out the menu was the same as the one I had been looking at. This lack of communication and courtesy was frustrating and diminished the otherwise positive impression created by the restaurant’s decor and food quality.
The chicken dishes at XOXO Coffee is undeniably good. The rest of the wait staff who served my coffee and chicken katsu were however courteous and pleasant. But the person at cashier counter doesn’t make me want to return.
