Chiefeater VK and Jen queued up for the Grumpy Bagels 1905, uncovering an intriguing textural found within their toasted bagels

Chicken Chop, Western, Pork-Free
Tuesdays are the days I have lunches with Chiefater Jon Besar. This time we had lunch at xoxo Coffee at The Syopz in Taylor’s University. The cafe was opened at the end of 2022 and caters to students and faculty at the university. And of course, to interlopers like Jon & I.
I spied a Grilled Chicken Chop on their menu so it wasn’t difficult for me to decide what I wanted to have. And I ordered a flat white too. Their coffee while pretty was too weak for my liking. Jon figures it is that because they are a Korean leaning restaurant. Koreans typically prefer a milder flavoured coffee, their coffee style reflects that too. But I got to say, their drinks are pretty.

The Grilled Chicken Chop was definitely pretty to look at. It was well plated with complementary colours to bring out the dish. The chicken was well seasoned, for me. The chicken meat was tender. The use of fried potato slices was a good replacement for fries. One of our lunch partners however found the chicken too salty for her liking. The only thing that was out of sorts was the corn, which was totally bland.

We were a party of three at xoxo Coffee. They initially tried to fit us into a small table that would not have been enough to even hold food for two. While I can understand that they did not want us to tie up the use of their table if we were not going to order food, I think their profiling of us was off by a big factor.
