Chiefeater Say Beng Teoh shares an early lunch stop for Pasembor at Restoran Noor Mohamed in Butterworth

Western
Some café lunches do not need to be complicated to be satisfying, and that was very much the case with this stop at XOXO Coffee in Syopz Mall. With so much competition around Taylor’s and Syopz these days, the lunch crowd did not feel as packed as it once was, but that may have worked in the café’s favour because the service felt more attentive.
The Classic American Omelette turned out to be a rather tasty treat. It arrived looking neat and well put together, folded over a generous filling and paired with a simple side salad that kept the plate from feeling too heavy. Once cut open, the inside showed a mix of mushrooms, onions and chicken ham with melted cheese running through it.

What made the omelette enjoyable was the balance of comfort and flavour. The eggs had a soft, slightly creamy texture, while the filling gave enough savoury bite to keep it interesting. The mushrooms and onions added a nice bit of earthiness and sweetness, and the cheese helped tie everything together without making the dish feel overly rich.

The hot Earl Grey was a suitable companion for the meal. Nothing dramatic there, but it rounded out the lunch nicely and made it feel like an easy, unhurried midday stop.

Overall, the omelette was the reason to order here. It was tasty, comforting and well suited for a casual lunch around Taylor’s Subang Jaya. The quieter dining room also seemed to help the staff give a bit more attention, which made the meal feel better paced and more pleasant.

V – Venue & Vibes
The space felt calmer at lunch, which gave the visit a more relaxed pace. With the crowd around Syopz not as packed as before, the service seemed more attentive, and that helped the meal land better.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor was the omelette itself. It was a comforting, well-filled plate that delivered more satisfaction than its simple appearance might suggest.
