“Lunch is a time to enjoy a delicious meal, and to temporarily escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.” Today’s working trip brings me to Tanjung Sepat, in Selangor again. I have always make it a point to try different restaurants so as to try different taste and style of cooking, maybe I may be lucky enough to be rewarded with a nice surprise, thus we tried the Fish Village Restaurant this time.

We arrived early, and being a week day, we were the only customer. The restaurant is simply a wooden shack, with ceiling and wall fans, and surprising, it wasn’t too warm.
– Mee hoon with canned braised pork belly was flavourful.

– Fish ball soup comes with bits of sea weed and egg drops was nice, especially during these spell of hot weather. The fish ball was fresh and bouncy.

– Egg plant stir-fry with salted eggs and minced meat was done just right, the flavour filly enhanced with the addition of dried shrimps.

– Bite-sized sea bass fish meat braised with fermented beans, with slices of onions, carrot, bitter gourd and green onions, topped with a sprinkle of parsley, was really nice. The thick and sticky sauce was slightly tangy with the addition of sweeten black venegar.

– Kam heong chicken literally live up to it’s name,; ‘heong’ and aromatic. The slightly fried chicken pieces was slightly crispy on the outside, tender inside. The generous addition of dried shrimps and curry leaves elevated the taste greatly.
Somehow, I found that the taste here is slightly different from the normal tai chow Chinese restaurants. Upon chatting up with the friendly lady boss, wonder no more, they are Vietnamese, thus the food here have a slight Vietnamese twist to it. Service was prompt, and price was very reasonable.
