Indian, Nasi Kandar, Pork-Free
Almost every visit to Restoran Kok Siong is for their renowned nasi kandar. Situated in Puchong and operated by a Chinese proprietor who mastered the art of curry-making from Indian chefs, this eatery has garnered a loyal following evident from the perpetual queue of customers.
Restoran Kok Siong serves their Nasi Kandar (as do many other shops) with a rich variety of curries that they generously ladle over your chosen rice selection. Each curry is distinct, bursting with spices and flavours that complement one another beautifully.
The prices at Restoran Kok Siong can vary depending on your choice of protein (sotong, chicken, mutton, or fish), with a whole chicken thigh plate costing RM18 through the food delivery app. For seafood options like sotong, the price may be slightly higher. Despite the cost, the quality and taste of the dishes justify the expense.
During my visit, I opted for a chicken thigh to-go, as the bustling kopitiam setting can become uncomfortably warm. The generous serving of rice topped with a medley of aromatic curries was a treat to enjoy at home, allowing me to savour the flavours in a more comfortable environment.
If you're in the area and craving authentic Malaysian flavours, Restoran Kok Siong is worth a visit despite the potential wait and prices.
