Sui Kow, Street Food, Pork-Free
The modern kopitiam concept is hot now with everyone and his uncle thinking they can make a play at this. It is a highly competitive space. 18 Kopi is a new entrant into this space with the opening of their outlet at Rio Puchong in January 2023.
They offer all the usual kopitiam stuff like kopi, toast, half boiled eggs, Nasi Lemak, rice and noodles. It was not a rice day for me so I ordered a Fried Sui Kow (RM7.90+). My wife ordered a Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken (RM14.90+)
The Nasi Lemak wasn’t fragrant enough and the rice was a bit clumpy. The fried chicken was well, fried. The ikan bills was not crunchy. I will attribute this to them still finding their legs as they had just opened not too long ago.
The Fried Sui Kow looked quite like a winner when it arrived. Fried to a golden brown colour, it certainly looked appetizing. On first bite, the taste of the Sui Kow was there with bits of carrot to provide some crunch to the fish meat filling.
The Teh (RM4.30+) was alright. Not too sweet. Overall, 18 Kopi provides a good environment to have a meal. The tall windows allowing a lot of light to enter the outlet, giving a bright cheery atmosphere. The wait staff are attentive and service is quick.
PSA - Their current Google Maps location for 18 Kopi Puchong links to where Chizu is. It should be at the opposite end of the same block.
The + is for a 10% service charge.
