Sarawak Laksa, Pork-Free
I had read previous good review about the Sarawak Laksa at Lao Mao Cafe previously, and I'm glad I finally had the chance to savour it thanks to a friend who suggested we should have a meet up there.
Sarawak Laksa is truly a unique culinary experience, distinct from the more commonly known curry mee. Unlike curry mee, which typically features a coconut milk-based curry broth, Sarawak laksa boasts a rich and aromatic broth made from a combination of spices, herbs, and belacan (shrimp paste). This results in a broth that's thick, fragrant, and bursting with umami flavors.

At Lao Mao Cafe, the Sarawak laksa broth was the star of the show, with its velvety texture and complex layers of flavour. Each spoonful was a delight for the taste buds. The broth's depth and richness set it apart from other laksa varieties, making it a standout dish that's earned its reputation as one of PJ's best.
Beyond the broth, Sarawak laksa typically features ingredients such as shredded chicken, shrimps, bean sprouts and sliced omelette, all served atop a bed of vermicelli noodles. The combination of these elements creates a harmonious blend of textures and flavours that's simply irresistible.

The price of the Sarawak Laksa may be premium at just under RM20 a bowl but the flavour justifies it.
My friend had a bowl of Beef Noodle and he asked me to taste the soup. That's another winner that I will have to go back another time to review.

Lao Mao is located on the pet friendly floor of Megah Rise Mall, so you will see fur parents with their fur kids there.
