Tang Jai Yoo Restaurant Teochew Dinner
Teochew
Chiefeater Patrick Sato Lee had a simple Teochew style dinner at Tang Jai Yoo Restaurant in Bangkok's Chinatown

Japanese, Non-Halal
Rich Dried Sardine Tsukemen at Sanpoutei Ramen Holland Village. This ramen restaurant uses smoked fish to make their soup stock. And my favourite fish (for spaghetti) = sardines!
Dipping broth was thick but find that it lacks the rich sardine taste. Noodles were al dente though and portion was generous.

Besides Ippudo and the other ‘usual’ touted ramen bars, this comes in at above average. The originality of broth ingredients comes through. I’d like for it to be more ‘fishy’ umami though, but definitely offers a unique taste. The noodles are springy and the texture is perfect. Even the ramen type is a little thicker than the usual tsukemen, almost as broad as a soba .
Total SGD16++ per bowl. I’d rate this 6.5/10 – but ideal for a quick afternoon bite. We also had the sake shot package at SGD36 for 3 cups. Good way to wash the noodles down.
