Tang Jai Yoo Restaurant Teochew Dinner
Teochew
Chiefeater Patrick Sato Lee had a simple Teochew style dinner at Tang Jai Yoo Restaurant in Bangkok's Chinatown

Italian, Non-Halal
E Pellicci has been in business in the 1900s and passed down from generation to generation. I remember walking for a distant after getting off the tube, in the rain at around 10 am. We arrived at the eatery only to be greeted by a line and so, we queued for approximately 75 mins.

As the line got longer and longer but the experience was not all grim because the owner, Maria came out with a tray of french fries and dip and offered us who’s in line! It was such a wonderful surprise and she’s not only friendly but loud and funny.
We finally got to our table in the small and tight space and promptly ordered the food. Obviously we ordered the big breakfast (their signature), pie, lasagne and the food was worth the wait…especially the lasagne. I’ve never tasted lasagne quite like how they have done it because it was delicious!

Lasagna

Pie

We finished everything and I couldn’t walk away without an affagato. I loved it.

When we were done, we paid and was waiting outside when my kid came out with a complimentary doggy bag of bread pudding. I promptly went back in to thank Maria for the food, planted a kiss on her check and left. I think this memory of Maria, the food, the ambiance and the whole experience will stay with me for a long while.
