Han’s Cafe Pork Chop

Prawn Mee, Char Kuey Teow, Non-Halal
My second visit to Prawn Noodle King is still a good one. I like their prawn noodles because it reminds me of the one that I used to have when I was a kid in Ipoh. There used to be a traveling Prawn Noodle man on his motorbike going round my late grandma's taman. Back then, a bowl of prawn noodle only cost 80 cents. So yes I approve of this prawn noodle by Prawn Noodle King.
I ordered the most basic option at RM12.90. The broth is flavorful although the chili paste that came with it was a tad spicy. I like to mix all of the chili paste into the broth. I have tried their dry version before and I did like it.
My brother went for their Prawn Noodle with Siew Yuk. I can safely proclaim that their siew yuk is good. The skin is crispy and the meat is not dry, just like the last time I had it.

I also tried their Char Kuey Teow (CKT). There is wok hei in this CKT but the flavor is a bit bland compared to the prawn noodle. I could finish it though. My mother went for the siew yuk rice with pork lard. This time around, the pork lard was not fresh and tasted a bit rancid, unlike last time. That is really a bummer.

They do claim to have the best Penang kopi but I tried their Penang white kopi ice instead. It was fine, could be a bit more thick but acceptable.

The bill came to RM113 for 4 people with 3 drinks and 5 food items. Not exactly cheap but it was generally good taste wise.

Prawn Mee or Har Mee is what KLites call this dish. At one point, you may even hear it referred to as Mee Yoke. In Penang it is called Hokkien Mee.
