Stepping back into Restoran Fui Chuai after more than 20 years felt like visiting an entirely new place. Once a more humble looking eatery, the restaurant has undergone a significant transformation into a banquet hall of impressive quality, complete with a large LED screen—ideal for weddings or annual dinners.
The dinner, courtesy of a generous friend, featured classic Chinese dishes like fish and stir-fried vegetables. However, the star of the evening was undoubtedly the soup, a dish that requires pre-ordering at least a day in advance.
Fried Eggs in a Tomato Based Sauce
Fried Kailan
Steamed Village Chicken
I enjoyed the Loh Hon Chai.
This meticulously crafted ABC Soup with Pork Belly was a true standout. Carrots and onions lent it a natural sweetness, balanced beautifully by the savoury depth provided by pork and chicken feet. The long preparation time was evident in the rich, harmonious flavours - a testament to the effort and time needed to perfect such a dish.
The revamped ambiance of Fui Chuai elevates the dining experience, and the service complements the banquet-style setting. While the standard dishes were enjoyable, the soup alone made the visit memorable.
Starts from RM1,268 nett per table of 10 pax.
