Hakka, Non-Halal
Ordered a selection of Hakka dishes from Hakshan USJ Taipan, and while some were enjoyable, others left much to be desired.
The Pork Trotter in Black Vinegar (RM37.10) was a standout dish. The balance of sweet and sour vinegar was well executed, with a savoury depth that rounded out the flavours nicely. The pork retained a good firmness, absorbing the flavours while still offering a satisfying bite.

The Abacus Seeds (RM26.50) had good flavour, but the texture was too soft, which took away from the usual chewiness that makes this dish enjoyable. Interestingly, the minced meat was actually better than the abacus itself, providing a nice contrast in flavour and texture.

However, the Pork Belly with Fermented Vegetables (RM31.80) was a disappointment. The portion felt shockingly small—just four thin slices of meat—making it poor value for money.

A mixed experience overall, with the Pork Vinegar being the highlight, while the rest were hit or miss.
