Japanese, Non-Halal
Tanba Japanese BBQ at TRX positions itself as a premium destination for Japanese BBQ and Sukiyaki, and on that front, it certainly delivers. The space is tastefully designed—clean lines, dark wood, and dim lighting that give it an upscale yet welcoming vibe. Ideal for an indulgent lunch or a celebratory dinner.

Flatware plus the grill in the background

On this visit, we went à la carte and sampled a range of grilled meats: beef tongue, beef intestines, Angus striploin, bacon, smoked duck, and pork slices.
The beef tongue (pictured behind the duck) stood out for its tenderness and almost buttery finish, especially when given just a quick sear on the grill. Equally impressive was the smoked duck, which had a beautiful balance of smoky depth and fat richness that didn’t overpower.

Bacon in the foreground.

Beef intestines – would you eat this?

I would probably skip the sushi here.

Each diner is charged RM6 for the sauce set, which includes a wide variety of dipping sauces and a small dessert to finish. It may be modest in portion but a nice touch to complete the experience.

Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the staff made sure to check in occasionally to change grill plates and ensure everything was in order. Our bill for two, inclusive of drinks, came to about RM280, which felt fair for the quality of the meats and overall experience.
Bonus tip: For heartier appetites, Tanba Japanese BBQ offers a buffet option starting at RM228++ per person, which might be worth exploring.
Sleek venue, courteous service, and a few standout meats—especially the tongue and duck—make Tanba a worthy stop for those craving a refined yakiniku-style meal in the heart of TRX. And they have a private room that has a minimum spend of RM3,500.

If you dine here on Friday nights, they even have a DJ and/or live band performances .
