Afternoon Tea
On our last day, we managed to squeeze in a traditional English afternoon tea at Claridge’s, the Grand Dame of London’s 5 star hotels. This 208-year-old venerable hotel has seen everyone from Queen Victoria to Audrey Hepburn walk through its revolving doors, so we decided to see if the afternoon tea is as fabulous as it’s made out to be.


We were served a selection of traditional sandwiches and I had my 1st taste of coronation chicken, or Poulet Reine Elizabeth, an English dish of boneless chicken traditionally seasoned with parsley, thyme, bay leaf, cumin, turmeric, ginger and peppercorns, mixed with cream or mayonnaise, and dried apricots. It was really good!

The scones were freshly baked and served with Cornish clotted cream and Claridge’s afternoon tea jam. Delish! The sandwiches, scones and cakes were unlimited too so we ordered 5 rounds of food. Washed down with fine English tea and champagne, it was a perfect afternoon tea
