Chiefeater Russ King Karl shares the famous old school Bak Moey place on Lorong Perak

I was chatting with the proprietor, Chef Kent of Luxurious Seafood at Restoran How Yekee, since early in the morning, and duly made a reservation via WhatsApp. Thus is the power of the Chiefeater platform! I casually asked what’s good at Ho YeKee, and to my delight Chef Kent obliged. The first thing that struck me was that his command of English is good. He described kamheong as “golden aroma”, could be the AI talking.
I like my vegetables oily and full of smoky garlicky aroma – and both vegetable dishes from Chef Kent made the mark.
We didn’t get fish from Chef, but he was kind enough to allow us to bring our own fish!
We brought a fresh 1.2kg pomfret with us – and Chef just charged a nominal fee for cooking it. -and cooking it wonderfully I might add. Deep fried in HK soya sauce. This was 7.5/10

The true test of a taichow is not just their stir fried vegetables but also their signature fried rice. We simply asked Chef to surprise us with his version of fried rice. His signature fried rice was good – reminiscent of the Malaysian style fried rice from my childhood memories. The frozen peas and corn in packets, remember? This was 7/10.

Overall the price was very reasonable – below RM300 for 6 of us.
Chef made his way to our table to greet us. Nice gesture. Surely, most patrons would be back for his level of skills and service. All his front liners and sous chefs are local – and they seem to hum as a team.
Do give Luxurious Seafood at Restoran How YeKee a try before they get too busy! They’re just a few months in, opening at this location. Chef Kent was ex GreenView and his pedigree shows. Alas they don’t serve any Sangharmeen (yet). But no worries, it would take a few visits to exhaust their menu..
