Wantan Mee, Street Food
Fung He Porridge and Noodle in Kota Kinabalu was previously known as Pak Ka Lok, and I was back for another bowl of their pork porridge.

I ordered the porridge while Jen decided on the wantan mee. As it turned out, her choice was a great find.

Jen’s wantan mee was served with slices of roast pork over noodles in a dark sauce. The roast pork was really good, making her order the more interesting discovery on this visit.

We also had tea and a cold drink.
Fung He specialises in Hong Kong-style porridge and noodles, with a menu that includes pork slices, pork liver and kidney, century egg, sliced fish and pork tendon porridge. The noodle selection includes char siu, sau nyuk and combinations of both.
For me, this was a return visit for a familiar dish, with Jen’s roast pork wantan mee providing a very welcome addition to what I’d order here.
Pork Porridge – RM15.00
Wantan Mee – RM15.00
Tea – RM2.50
Cold drink – RM4.50
Total: RM37.00
Average per pax: RM18.50 (2 diners)
MVX Score: 7.2/10
M – Meal Value
At RM37 for two people, including drinks, the meal was reasonably priced. The roast pork wantan mee was particularly enjoyable, although the porridge seemed less generous with its pork innards than I remembered. Overall, fair value for what we received.
Score: 7.0/10
V – Vibe & Venue
Fung He has a straightforward, functional dining environment with simple tables and seating. It is a basic setting rather than somewhere distinguished by its décor.
Score: 7.0/10
X – X-Factor
The pleasant surprise was Jen’s roast pork wantan mee. I had returned specifically for the porridge, but the quality of the roast pork gave me another dish to look forward to on a future visit.
Score: 7.5/10
