Claypot, Non-Halal
With a name like Ah Guang Lamb Pot Puchong, you know what you are going to eat when you are there for the first time. We had their Signature Lamb Pot (small - RM55.90++, large - RM111.80++) which was a good sized serving for 4 pax.
It's a production starting from the time they bring the claypot over to each table and then light the fire. First they put a piece of lamb lard into the pot to line the claypot. Then they add garlic and ginger into the pot before adding the lamb meat. They let that cook in the claypot for a bit and then pour some alcohol over the lamb to flambe it, before finally adding in the lamb soup and topping it with coriander, mushroom and radish.
It was quite a show of cooking the lamb before us. But the proof was whether it was good. And it came off well. The lamb had been well marinated and the meat was tender. The soup, they say, has 34 ingredients put into it to give it a hearty flavour. I don't know if I could taste 4 ingredients let alone 34 but I did enjoy it.
This is a dish to have with rice and it will go down especially well on a cold wet day. The outlet at Puchong is one of 4 and their 5th outlet shall be opening in Genting Highlands soon.
