Empress Road Food Centre, also known as Farrer Road Food Centre, is not famous as some of the other food centres out there. There are a number of stalls I would head there particularly for, one of them is Ah Wing’s Wanton Mee 詠記麵家 known for its Hong Kong-style Wanton Noodles.

Yes, yes… I would probably rank them as one of the best under-rated Wanton Mee you can find in Singapore. The couple migrated from HK to Singapore in the 90s and have brought a little slice of their home our sunny shores.
We got extra boxes of fresh dumplings and wontons for frying at home. That’s how good it was. Highly recommended. This stall now overtakes Somerset in my opinion. For this first sampling, I will go with a 7.5/10 – it’s really an authentic taste of Hong Kong.
