Iberico, Non-Halal
Anne Elizabeth The Deli Restaurant is a place that I have heard of for a long time about how good their food is on social media. Over the last 2 years, there was little to no chance of visiting it. Getting there is easy, parking is a pain. Fortunately, there is a multi level parking centre nearby (by nearby, it is less than 500 metres away though it is an uphill walk from the centre to the deli).
Anne Elizabeth’s premises is quite unassuming and you might even say underwhelming. It is after all a neighbourhood restaurant, a jaguh kampung. But I have learnt that looks can deceive. Jen ordered a salad while I ordered a Iberico Abanico pork chop (RM48++, price is based on weight).
From Google – Iberico Pork Abanico is the cut that wraps the ribs from the outside. It is a thin piece rich in marbling, which makes it perfect for the BBQ being tasty, juicy and crispy.

The bacon salad at Anne Elizabeth was really quite standard (RM13.90) So was the mushroom soup (RM13.90). My pork chop arrived later and I can tell you, I wasn’t impressed by the plating with the pork chop coming in 3 pieces. Again, I was pre-judging before I ate. I then cut into the Iberico and took a bite into it and my earlier preconception was swept away. The first bite was tender and full of flavour. Well grilled and well seasoned, it was a piece of succulent joy. It was good enough for me to stop eating and order a glass of their house pouring wine (a Wolf Blass Bilyara Cabernet Sauvignon) which only costs RM18 to pair with it.
Overall, I enjoyed the meal at Anne Elizabeth even though each piece had a slightly different consistency in terms of texture. Not perfect but again for the price, I did not have much to complain. Would I drive out of my way to go there, I might not but it’s not a bad place to drop by if you are in the neighbourhood.
