Love this new Muslim-friendly place: Areca Delights, recently opened next to Happy Mart at Promenade. The lady partner who was serving us, Ms Lim, was friendly and cheerful and the food is good and price is reasonable. We were totally bowled over by their star dish Laksa Lemak – creamy, rich, spicy, tangy and full of flavour. Savoured every spoonful of the yummy smooth gravy to the last drop!

The Char Koay Teow is excellent too – with serious “wok hei”, cockles, chicken “lub cheong” and 2 fresh good-sized prawns. We also enjoyed the Nasi Lemak with ayam sambal – succulent tender moist sambal chicken and crunchy ikan billis with soft fragrant rice. We finished our meal with Gula Melaka ice cream from Merry. Wil definitely come back for the Laksa Lemak and happy to bring my outstation Muslim friends here for the quintessential Penang Char Koay Teow – they will not be disappointed!
