Authentic Chan Meng Kee Puchong Jaya had opened recently in Puchong and we decided to have a late lunch one day to escape their peak hours of 12 noon to 2:30 pm.
Opting for the Roast Pork Curry Laksa (RM13.90), my taste buds were treated to a broth that stood out for its rich flavours. Notably, the absence of MSG was a welcome surprise, ensuring a satisfying experience without the notorious side effects. The roast pork retained its crispy allure throughout the meal. The meat had a nice firmness to it without being hard. While the noodles erred slightly on the softer side, they still carried the taste of a well-crafted bowl.
Complementing the Curry Mee adventure were side dishes of BBQ pork (RM13 for a 1 pax serving) and BBQ sausage (RM15.50 for a 1 pax serving). Among them, the BBQ sausage emerged as a personal favourite. Its firm yet tender texture highlighted a delightful balance of savoury and sweet notes. The bonus was it went very well with the curry broth.
The BBQ Pork is a matter of preference. The meat here tends towards the leaner side so it would be liked by those who don't like their char siew to be too fatty. I found the taste to be quite good. Not too sweet. However, I will state that I am not a char siew connoisseurs so you have to take my assessment with a pinch of salt.
Authentic Chan Meng Kee Puchong Jaya has successfully translated its pork and noodle expertise to a new locale. The only thing to watch out for here would be the parking and the hard walls which create a lot of noise pollution. However, this is a problem that afflicts every single outlet in this area.
