Kuantan use to have 4 or 5 places selling this La Char Meen aka dirty Wantan Mee. Unfortunately, some of them have either gone back to see their makers or retire for good. Now as far as I know, there are still 2 left and this stall ay Best World Kopitiam being one of them.
These team of 5 brothers and a sister from Muar, Johor have been selling LCM for umpteen years. Their former place, Leo Star Restaurant, located at Jalan Beserah, Kuantan, already closed during the pandemic. Now, they are just renting a stall to run the biz. Anyhow, their business is still as good as before because they have a broad base of old school buggers who love this old school LCM.
How clean or dirty is one's perception which you can judge from the picture yourself. The hawker uses a 2 feet long chopsticks to 'kiao' the wtm and sauce together which I find it a bit clumsy, heavy and will tire the fingers and thumb easily ( if i use it ). As a result, you can see the splattering of black soy sauce all over the plate like Picasso drawing abstract art on the canvas. Even the stall and floor is splattered with black soy sauce and broken bits of wanton mee.
Having said that, dirtyness is not his concern as he has a lot of fansee for support, nei chuay meh? Ya, one thing I almost forgotten to mention is, this stall at Best World Kopitiam will flood the LCM with lor ( starchy gravy with shredded chicken). You may tell them not to put if you do not want it
