Fried Chicken, Pork-Free
Borenos Puchong, a fried chicken brand hailing from Sabah, has finally opened its doors (Nov 2024) in the Klang Valley. I was eager to reacquaint myself with their fried chicken which had experienced in Kota Kinabalu earlier in 2024.

I opted for a 3-piece chicken set with an upsized drink, priced at RM27.80. You can either order at the digital touch-screen order kiosk or use the physical order counter. I prefer the digital option which made choosing options and paying a seamless experience.

Even with a packed house (no long lines yet), the service was impressively efficient, and my order was ready promptly. My number was called and I went to pick it up. Jen and I were both impressed by the fried chicken. The meat was tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, while the skin offered a delightful crispness with a subtle peppery aftertaste. The seasoning was so good that we didn’t even need to dip the chicken in any sauce — it stood out beautifully on its own.

Close up of the chicken meat. Fried chicken is a dish best eaten while hot so do yourself a favour. Dine In. The dine in experience will always beat the food delivery option.

As for the sides, the mashed potatoes were good, boasting a smooth yet hearty texture that felt freshly made rather than powdery or artificial. The coleslaw was nicely diced and complemented the meal well.
Borenos delivers a solid fried chicken experience, making it a strong contender in the competitive fried chicken scene in Klang Valley.
