Chiefeater Chu Boon had kopi, nasi goreng and chicken chop at Luan Fong Legacy, a Butterworth gem

Babi Gepuk
The Buttermilk Daddy Cafe Babi Gepuk Rice surprised me. Walking into a café called Buttermilk Daddy, I wasn’t expecting an Indonesian-inspired pork dish to become the highlight of the meal.
Priced at RM19.90, the set comes with rice, a fried egg, tofu, vegetables and a cup of jasmine tea. It looks fairly straightforward, but the first thing that stood out was the pork. Despite being fried, it remained remarkably moist and tender inside while developing just enough crispness on the outside to give it texture.

The sambal deserves just as much credit. It isn’t there merely as a condiment. It brings a proper kick that lifts the entire plate, pairing beautifully with the richness of the pork and the runny egg yolk. If you enjoy spicy food, this is one of those meals that becomes more addictive with every mouthful.

The tofu and vegetables round out the meal nicely without trying to steal the spotlight. They simply complete what is already a very satisfying plate of rice.
For a café better known for other dishes, the Babi Gepuk Rice quietly turned out to be one of the more memorable pork dishes I’ve had in Puchong recently.
