Moo Point Steaks Penang served an excellent rump cap and beautifully marbled Wagyu sirloin in an intimate Hutton Lane setting

Sri Lankan, Pork-Free
Caught up with a friend over brunch at TRX and found ourselves at Café Colombo, a Sri Lankan eatery that’s quietly tucked into the vibrant dining scene there. Their restaurant sports a very comfortable environment. Could be good for events too.

We shared a few small plates — the egg appam, mutton roll and fish cutlets. The egg appam came out beautifully done, with its crisp edges and soft, spongy centre cradling a sunny yolk. The sambol pairings were flavourful and punchy.
The fish cutlets and mutton roll were deep-fried snacks with a familiar crunch, though nothing particularly stood out beyond being well-made comfort bites.

Egg Appam

Fish Cutlet

Mutton Roll

But the surprise favourite of the morning was the masala chai. Rich, spiced and perfectly balanced, it was a warm endnote that brought the whole meal together. Worth a visit if you’re curious about Sri Lankan flavours or just looking for something different the next time you’re in TRX.
