Hungarian
At Chili Vanilla, a well-known spot on Jln Haji Saman that leans into European and Hungarian cuisine.

I decided to try the Hungarian Chicken Paprika (RM30). It came with spetzle — those soft, rustic noodle-like dumplings — and a dollop of butter to melt over them. The dish looked promising with its thick paprika gravy, though the flavour leaned towards the mild side.

The chicken was tender, the gravy creamy, but it could have used a stronger punch of paprika and salt to bring out that hearty, Hungarian warmth. The spetzle was enjoyable — lightly chewy and comforting, though also needing a bit more seasoning to complement the sauce. Still, it’s a rare find to see authentic Hungarian touches in KK, and that alone makes Chili Vanilla an interesting stop.
Paired it with a 1602 Lager, which was crisp and refreshing, though I still prefer the Pale Ale from the same brand — fruitier, with more personality.

Score: 7.8/10
M – Meal Value (7.5): RM30 for a European main is fair, though flavours could be bolder.
V – Vibe & Venue (8.0): Cosy, casual café ambience with attentive service.
X – X-Factor (8.0): Hungarian dishes in Sabah — unexpected and worth a try.
